Ratchadaรัชดา

Ratchada — properly Ratchadaphisek — is the long road running north through Huai Khwang, and it carries its own after-dark scene distinct from RCA's. Where RCA is a purpose-built strip of large clubs, Ratchada is a corridor of entertainment complexes, restaurants and late bars spread along an MRT line.

Getting to RCA from Ratchada

Ten to twenty minutes by road depending on where along Ratchada you start, since the road runs for several kilometres. The two are close enough to combine in one night, though as always the RCA leg finishes by taxi rather than by train.

What it's like after dark

Broader and more local than RCA, and more spread out. It draws a largely Thai and expat-resident crowd rather than a visitor one, and the venues lean towards restaurant-bars and entertainment complexes rather than dance floors. It runs late, but late in a different register — less about a headline DJ, more about staying out.

Trains and roads

Well served by the MRT Blue Line, which is the practical difference from RCA: you can reach most of Ratchada by train and walk from the station. That makes it the easier of the two to reach, and the easier to leave before the trains stop.

Staying in Ratchada

A reasonable base if you want MRT access and a quieter street than the strip, at the cost of being slightly further from the clubs than the Rama 9 hotels.
